Every Sunday, we are invited to this holy celebration to observe the Lord’s day, and bring to him our needs.
In today’s readings, Isaiah and Simon Peter encounter God, and their immediate response is to acknowledge their own sinfulness.
“The presentation of Jesus in the temple,” the feast the Church celebrates today, “shows him to be the firstborn Son who belongs to the Lord.
These winter days, light is in short supply. The days are at their shortest, and the weather its coldest. But in these long, dark nights when it is clear, we can see the stars.
Christmas is the Feast of the Emmanuel (God living with us and within us):
Rejoice in the Lord, again I say rejoice! This third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday – a rejoicing reflected in rose vestments and the choice of Scriptures.
